@purelysnow: Thanks for commenting psnow.... my wife and I were in the general area for 5 days. This access is from 'Windy Ridge". Extremely dramatic views looking south towards the volcano from the north, with limited services.All of the Gifford Pinchot National forest which is adjacent to the Mt. St. Helens National Monument (including Windy Ridge) is very worthwhile and has almost unlimited camping and hiking opportunities.
